Bodywork

I take an integrative approach to therapeutic bodywork, weaving together multiple modalities to best suit your goals and needs. A session can include a blend of Swedish massage, myofascial release, deep tissue, trigger point, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, basic lymphatic drainage, stretching, joint mobilization, and movement education. Stitching together these various modalities is working with a biodyanmic perspective, seeing the client as their own unique ecosystem, intimately interconnected with their environment, conditions, relationships, and internal world.

I celebrate adaptations and the body’s innate knowledge of how to heal. My intent is to cultivate a space for your body to discover shifts in perception, a greater capacity for sensation, and encouraging belief in the intelligence of your body. My work is consent driven, each session a collaboration and a dialogue. Sessions are unique to the individual, their body, and goals.

This work is great for those navigating acute and chronic pain, seeking a fuller sense of well being, more ease in their movement, a reduction in tension and stress, enhanced performance, and a deeper understanding of their body. This work has the capacity to support a wide range of physical and emotional states. All bodies are welcome and celebrated.

Currently only offering bodywork sessions in the East Bay.

60 minutes - $130
A 60 minute session is a great length of time for addressing the whole body in a more general and fluid way, or spending the time to focus on one priority area.

A 90 minute session creates a more spacious session to address the whole body with more detail and to still have time to address one or two priority areas more in depth.

FAQs

How can I best prepare my space for a bodywork session?

Please have a cleared and quiet space, at least 7’ x 10’ in order for me to set up my table and have room to move. I appreciate a clean space, free of pets, children, and housemates as much as possible to limit distractions. I will arrive with all the necessary tools. Having a blanket in case you get cold and 2-3 pillows on hand for any work in a side-lying position is helpful!

What can I expect from my first session?

Every session will begin with an intake conversation about what brings you in, your health history, your goals, and how I can best support you. For the first session, we may do a longer intake so I have a clear sense of how you and your body are coming into our work together. I’ll leave the room for you to disrobe (if applicable) and then we’ll proceed with the bodywork session on the table.

What should I wear for a session?

I encourage clients to dress to the level of their comfort. I am prepared to work with clients who want to be fully clothed to clients who want to be disrobed. For unclothed clients, I will have you draped and covered in a sheet and only the region of the body being worked on at that time will be uncovered. We will discuss in our first intake what feels most appropriate to your goals.

Do you have sliding scale payment options?

Absolutely! Please reach out via my contact page or email me if my listed rates are a barrier to you receiving care. I have sliding scale options for bodywork sessions and doula services.

Where do the sessions take place?

While I do not yet have a designated space for bodywork sessions, I can come to you! I can do sessions in your home, office, or studio. I am currently only offering sessions in the East Bay. If you are unsure about if your location works or if you’d like to do a session but don’t have a space for us to set up, reach out and we’ll figure out another option.

COVID-19 Precautions

I’m happy to wear a KN-95 mask if preferred during sessions. If you or anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 before, during, or recently after a session, please let me know.

What should I do after my session?

Hydrate! Bodywork can move a lot of fluids and waste stored in the tissues through the body, stimulating circulation and the lymphatic system. As much as you can, rest, hydrate, and gently stretch if desired. A bath with epsom salts can help to ease soreness. Try to avoid rigorous activity after your session to let the body integrate any changes made.
